Pre-teeth dental care is during the first six months of their lives. Their teeth are still developing in their gums. The most important thing you can do during this stage is make sure they have a healthy diet. When you see they have developed their first teeth you should schedule an appointment with a pediatric dentist during this they will get their initial screening and you will come up with a schedule to keep an eye on the development of your children’s teeth.

The visits should be about every six months. Their primary teeth will start to come in at about six months old, then their permanent teeth usually come in at around 6 years old. Between the ages of 6- and 11-years old baby teeth fall out and are replaced with permanent teeth. By this point make sure your child develop good dental habits, should be brushing their own teeth along with going to their routine dental exams.

When you go out to buy toothbrushes, floss and other supplies you should always buy more than what you need. When you have extra supplies around the house you know that you will never run out. When you have multiple brushes available you can make it into a fun game when they need to throw out their current one.

You can introduce your children to this by reading books and watching tv shows that promote proper oral hygiene habits at a young age. Brushing your teeth with your children will motivate them.
