Professional Teeth Cleaning Benefits

There are many benefits of getting professional teeth cleaning. While your home oral health routine is very important, you should be supplementing it with regular cleanings done by your dentist. Keep reading to learn why getting into a dentist’s office for cleaning is so important. Give our office a call if you would like to schedule a free consultation or get onto our appointment book for a cleaning.

Reduce Risk of Dental Issues

One of the biggest benefits of getting professional teeth cleaning is the removal of plaque and tartar. Plaque and tartar are two of the biggest causes of dental issues such as cavities and gingivitis.

Unfortunately, if you miss spots while brushing or you do not floss well, you can have bacterial growth. If this is not removed, it can turn into tartar.

Tartar is a calcified form of plaque. It cannot be removed with brushing or flossing. You need a dentist to remove it with special tools. It is not safe to try to scrape it away at home. You can cause serious damage to your teeth if you try removing your tartar at home.

Get Problems Addressed Before They Progress

Part of a professional teeth cleaning is a thorough exam. Your dentist is going to assess your teeth to make sure it is okay to proceed with the cleaning. If they see issues, you can get those treated at your appointment.

This is a far better way to deal with dental problems than to wait for them to get so bad that you need more invasive treatment. If you want to avoid something like a root canal, you should prioritize your regular visits to a dentist.

It’s nice that you talked about how the removal of plaque and tartar is one of the biggest of getting professional teeth cleaning. I brush and floss my teeth daily but I don’t feel quite satisfied with its cleanliness anymore. So with that in mind, I am thinking of asking for teeth cleaning from a family dentist later.
